Hello, I’m Lauren Schormann

I first knew I'd be a teacher back in 2014, when I became a Teaching Assistant supporting SEND pupils in my local primary school. After two terms, I was getting ready to go to university and earn my PGCE in Primary Teaching. It has been twelve years since then, and I have loved teaching classes full of children from Year's 1 through to 6 ever since! I am originally from South West London, and have had the pleasure of teaching and tutoring in Brighton, Devon and Cornwall too. I have always tutored privately alongside classroom teaching, and as the class sizes increase, and the pandemic set us back, I realised how important tutoring has become to support confidence, growth, and education as a whole. I am a passionate and dedicated teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality tutoring in the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential and pursue any path they choose.

During my first few years of teaching and tutoring, I taught poetry lessons in Year 4 as part of the U.K. National Curriculum. One of my students found writing incredibly hard, and he couldn't understand how to describe the content of his poem emotively. We talked about using senses to bring his poem to life, and he chose to write it about our class (Birch Class). I keep this up at my desk as a reminder of the power that teachers and tutors have on children's wellbeing, and learning.

Imagination is Purple

It smells like ice cream on a hot summer day

It tastes like cheese pizza with a big crust

It sounds like the sounds like waves of the sea

It feels like Huey the cat that lives next door

It reminds me of winter when the snow glows

It looks like a big house full of water

It lives at the heart of Birch Class

Learning ability is remarkably reliant on self-confidence and self-belief. I enjoy nothing more than guiding students towards unlocking the 'lightbulb' moment, where they have spent time and dedication to growing their mindset. Learning and education can be fun, especially when you know how to do it; and I use creativity, personalised, student-centred, and enquiry-based methods in my lessons. All barriers to learning can be overcome with the right support.

I am experienced teaching Key Stage 1, 2 & 3 core curriculum.

I offer lessons for 11+ and entrance exam schemes of work designed and implemented by me for previous classroom roles, and 11+ tutoring.

I tutor SEND as well as G&T students, bridging learning gaps for all children no matter where they are at.

Let's have a chat, and see how I can help!
